摘要：民主是全人类的共同价值，是中国共产党和中国人民始终不渝坚持的重要理念。主流新闻媒体的关键作用是向公众传达及时、中立和精确的资讯，助力群众认识国际及国内的重大动态和趋势。然而，在全球传播场域西方话语主导之下，西方对某些涉华议题的话语塑造尚存偏颇甚至偏见。本研究将围绕2021年引发全球关注的“新疆棉”事件，挑选中西媒体中有关此议题的报道文本作为批判话语分析的样本。此研究的宗旨在于揭示西方媒体是如何塑造关于中国民主议题的单一故事，并针对中国议题进行话语建构和国际传播提供了更有针对性的政策，从而向世界展示出真实的中国。
